Class 1 may be the toughest of classes to master. It takes much practice and time to become a great class 1 warrior. Really though, fighting in class 1 can be broken down into simple parts. Its combining them together and at the right times that makes you great. Use this page as an outline to help with your developement and improvement.
To kill in class 1, you must acquire your opponents lag. This is the distance you must aim ahead of your enemy. This is due to the time it takes for your computer to receive and send the data to your opponents computer. Here are some ways to help with finding lag.
- Start off by aiming a distance of one mech ahead of your opponent.
- Look at what part of the mech is yellow.
- If your shot hit his arm, adjust your aim to hit the center of the mech.
- Another way to find lag is to start firing at a distance of a few mechs.
- Begin to slowly move your fire closer and closer to the mech.
- When you see an arm turn yellow, you know you are close.
- Just make that little adjustment to the center of the torso.
- Now you've acquired the lag.
Sometimes and opponent will change his lag. When he changes his lag you must adjust your shot ahead or behind where it normally is. To know when the enemies lag is changing, look for:
- The mech slows down or speeds up.
- The distance between you and your enemy changes.
- Smoke from jj's causing the mech's speed to change.
- Lag from a mech standing still can change from 0 to 2 mechs when jj's are used.
- Your enemy is in the air and moves another direction
- Lag in the air is closer to the mech than lag on the ground.
- Don't forget than when a mech is in the air, you are firing in 3d not 2d.
- Use jets sparingly.
- Do not jet around when you aren't being fired at.
Evasion is key in defeating all of the asskickers you will encounter in your wars. My philosophy is if you don't get hit, you die, therefore you don't lose. Of course never getting hit is impossible (legally with a normal connection), but we all can try not to get hit. Improvement in this area will result in your staying alive longer and dealing more damage to your opponets. EVASION IS THE KEY TO VICTORY!
- Ground Evasion
- Stop and start to change your lag.
- Slow down and speed up if your opponent is aiming slightly ahead or behind respectively.
- Use your forward and backward jj's to get ahead or behind of shots.
- Change directions frequently to throw off your enemy's aim.
- Occasionally throw in a reverse direction along with stopping and starting (this will begin a guessing game for your opponent on your next move, forward, backward, stop?).
- Jumping Evasion
- Jump straight up a few meters in the air.
- Jump up and back some.
- Jump away from your opponent so your lag is different.
- Jump over your opponent.
- Land and open fire.
- Try to skim your opponents head causing damage for a future dfa.
What would a war be without a dfa in somewhere? There is at least 1 dfa in every war I'm in (except maze and similar situations). Dfa's can help out a lot to gain ground on opponents. You can kill a mech that is perfectly new in little time.
- Drop Dfa
- Aim your mech in the direction of where the target is going.
- Jump up to around 40 meters or so.
- Have your down camara (F8) on.
- Watch your radar and down camara to find where your target is.
- When you are over your target, begin to fall.
- Tap your lateral jets to stay over your opponent.
- When you land on the head, you will bounce up.
- Land on the head again without jumping back up in the air.
- Low Flying Dfa
- Jump up to around 15-20 meters.
- Fly at maximum speed toward your opponents head.
- Release your jets right before you are at his head.
- If you time this right, you should hit and bounce up.
- This usually takes one to two hits to kill the mech.
- Try landing on the head again after the initial hit.
- This works well when your opponent gets comfortable with just running along side of you.
